Why Stoneybatter?

Stoneybatter is the neighbourhood my Grandad grew up in, so I have a personal reason to love this place. That said, you’re sure to enjoy walking around if it’s ‘proper’ Dublin you’re looking for! While Stoneybatter is an up-and-coming area, with some buildings having been regenerated into shops or cafes, it’s still got a very authentic Dublin vibe.

I was lucky enough to visit the area with a true local, my Grandad. We visited the house he grew up on Aughrim Street, a short walk from Stoneybatter. The couple living there now gave us a tour, a true testament to how welcoming the Dubliners are. We wandered down to Stoneybatter and visited the Church of the Holy Family where my Grandad made his Holy Communion. Whilst there we bumped into a local who shared mutual connections with my Grandad, showing a true echo to the past Stoneybatter still has!

Authentic Dublin Vibe

It’s a quaint little area with cute town houses and a high street lined with local pubs. Everyone knows each other here and joining the community is easy! You’ll definitely meet people over a pint, it’s impossible not to chat to the Irish!

The Local of all Locals

Dublin is obviously the place for a good pint and the craic. The Glimmer Man pub has to be one the coolest pubs EVER! Inside it’s filled with weird and wonderful bits and bobs collected by the owners and locals over the years. They also play THE best music. As Stoneybatter is a bit out of central Dublin where all the tourists hangout, you’re sure to meet a local and have the proper craic! Get chatting, have pint, and enjoy!

If you’re after a taste of what it feels like to be a local in Dublin, Stoneybatter is the place to be! Pub hop along the high street and loose yourself in the craic. You won’t be leaving here sober!
