This incredible beach is located on the Phra Nang peninsular. It’s connected to the mainland, but cut off from the rest of Krabi by limestone hills and steep jungle; you can only access this area by sea. Hop in a long tail boat to this beautiful place where there’s only footpaths; no buses, no cars. If you want some photos in solitude here you’ll need to take the first boat from Ao Nang at about 8am. This place is very very popular and we arrived at about 12pm to a sea of tourists! Directions.

Railay Beach

Phra Nang Beach

If you’re a climber, Phra Nang is the place for you! A stunning soft sandy beach set against a backdrop of incredible limestone cliffs. Lots of people were climbing here and Sam got very jealous! Keep your eyes peeled for the interesting penis shrine. To westerners this shrine could seem quite funny, but for locals there’s actually a pretty cool reason behind it! Phranang, or Princess Goddess, was killed in a shipwreck near the shrine. Her spirit is believed to reside amongst the wooden penises. Locals come with offerings in the belief that the gifts will bring a fertile womb and the possibility to successfully conceive. Besides climbing and this interesting shrine, this beach is perfect for relaxing. The walk from Railay beach through the caves is pretty awesome too! Directions.

Nopparat Thara Beach

Back in the main mainland, about 18KM west of Krabi Town, you’ll find this beautiful beach. There’s an area with natural shade created by a huge limestone rock, and round the other side there’s incredible snorkelling! This area is so peaceful and quiet, the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Krabi town. Just behind this beach you’ll find a long-tail boat park which is amazing for pictures! Directions.

Ao Nang

At the bottom of the Krabi town strip you’ll find part of Ao Nang beach. This is where you’ll take a long tail boat to Railay. Don’t be put off by this part of the beach (un-swimmable because of the long-tail boats). If you’re looking at the beach, head left towards the resorts and you’ll find many beautiful spots to relax! Right at the end of this beach we found a great places to get some blogging done – read about it here. Directions.

There’s so many incredible beaches to relax in Krabi, you’ll never want leave! It’s a very touristy, busy place, but there’s so many places to get some peace. There’s tours on offer (unfortunately we didn’t have time) where you can visit beaches completely alone and have a beach picnic in solitude! Check out our favourite food spots here (it can be pretty pricey if you don’t know where to go).
